Mary Ebejer is Principal and Founder of Folio One Communications, a marketing communications firm based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since establishing herself as a contract writer, editor, and creative director in 1985, Mary's clients have included health care foundations, infant food and baby care manufacturers, contract office furniture manufacturers, automotive manufacturers and suppliers, financial and higher education institutions, and retailers.
With each client, Mary strives to link the elements of the communications mix with the organization's mission statement and marketing strategy-infusing public relations, advertising, editorial, and electronic publications with a clear, consistent message. While the depth of information conveyed may vary, the spirit of the core message remains constant as materials are "translated" for internal, external, expert, and lay audiences. The Gerber "Five A Day" program is a comprehensive example of this approach.
In 1996, Mary expanded her professional expertise when she founded Folio One Publishing and authored the award-winning children's book, Seeds of Love: For Brothers and Sisters of International Adoption. Now in its second printing, this lovingly written and beautifully illustrated story has been hailed as "a gem to be shared" by the international adoption community. She also created the International Adoption Travel Journal, an invaluable keepsake in which families record their trip of a lifetime.
Mary has served on a variety of professional, cultural, and religious organization boards. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of international adoption, book publishing and writing.
She currently serves as Co-Director of the a-China DNA Project Board, a non-profit organization exploring the viability of establishing a DNA database for children adopted from China.
She has been honored with national awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Publisher's Marketing Association (PMA). She has also received local awards from the Advertising Federation of Grand Rapids (ADDY) for writing, the Dyer-Ives Foundation for poetry, and the Greater Grand Rapids Arts Council for photography.
Mary received a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she also concentrated in Business Administration. In addition to studying at the Centro di Cultura per Stranieri in Florence, Italy, her international travel experience has since included the countries of Austria, China, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, Mexico and Spain.
